Seismic lines G-300X and Line G-90Y are used to illustrate the key seismic stratigraphic surfaces and generalized stratal stacking patterns on the margin. The stage 5e maximum flooding surface (mfs) and the stage three maximum flooding surface are prominent downlap surfaces recognized at the base of the highstand deltas that prograded across the shelf, in this case the ancestral Brazos Delta. The stage 2 sequence boundary (SB) is a lowstand erosional surface that overlies highstand deltas. The transgressive surface, which separates the lowstand and transgressive systems tracts, merges with the sequence boundary on the inner shelf, so that transgressive deposits lie directly on highstand deposits.
