Incised Valleys
La Vaca Incised Valley

The LaVaca River incised valley, now occupied by Matagorda Bay, is an example of a low sediment supply incised valley. This seismic profile across the valley was collected along the intercoastal canal. The base of the valley is filled with fluvial sands (FS) and the upper portion of the valley is filled with upper bay/bayhead delta deposits (UB), middle bay muds (MB) and lower bay tidal deposits (LB). These facies backstep within the valley, similar to the Trinity/Sabine incised valley.
