Bayhead Deltas
Trinity Bayhead Delta
The modern Trinity bayhead delta was the subject a master's thesis project by a Rice graduate student (McEwen, 1969) that resulted in a detailed facies map for the delta. One of the key observations of McEwen was that the delta includes a widespread mouthbar sand body.
Thomas and Anderson (1994) mapped the distribution of late Pleistocene and Holocene bayhead deltas within the Trinity Valley and their map provides a good insight into the extent of bayhead delta deposits within an incised valley.
