Apalachicola
Samples for apl3 and apl4 showed approximately 40% reworked carbonate grains nd 60% polycrystalline, subangular to angular, poorly sorted quartz grains. Frosted, well sorted, and rounded quartz was absent. Heavy minerals and feldspar were absent.
Grain-size analyses showed poorly-sorted assemblages with a dominant phi-size mode of approximately 0.5 phi to 0.7 phi and 0.2phi to 0.6 phi for apl4 and apl3, respectively. Mean results for apl3 of 0.2 phi appear to be erroneous.
These results are intended to confirm the immature fluvial-deltaic environment.
